Of all the studio and location shoots that we’ve done, a couple who has not been photographed is my Mom and Dad, Richard and Sheila. With their busy schedules it has not always been possible to do, so when we invited them over for a weekend we took them for a drive and stopped near an old railway line (in the Boland area) and started to shoot. It was an overcast day but the light was great and all worked well together. My parents are rather the conservative type and I was foreseeing some cold “posed” shots but they pleasantly surprised me with out-of-the-box, jovialness.
They have been married for 38 years and Dad is 71 (retired school teacher) and Mom 61 (retired secretary). But sitting and waiting for the “train” of life to come fetch them is not on the cards. They are very involved in the Atlantis community with regards to marriages and Mom runs her own printing business from home.
I have also captured some images of my beautiful assistant/confidant/friend/favourite model/wife :). Candice has been slogging tirelessly in all avenues with me, which makes this venture all the more enjoyable. Her efforts and support has truly been monumental throughout! Thank you, babe!
These images have been taken on an old railway track near Franschoek. While driving through the district, I suddenly pointed and stopped and simply loved the location.
